rocket & Bootz
When I first got on air at 103.5 The Bomb, I was working with a dj named Bombay Jay. He lived in the same apartment complex as Rick Rock and knew him. He asked Rick Rock if he would make an introduction for my night show, and from there it was history.
Around the same time, I also met Goldie Gold at an event, and we became bros almost immediately over countless sacks of chronic. Rick Rock was producing Goldie Gold’s solo Kinsmoke album, while at the same time had just formed Federation, so we all just started working together and connecting on music.
The timing of everything was crazy, because all of a sudden, I was rolling with Goldie, Rick Rock, and the Federation. We basically turned my night radio show into a Federation show, with Rick producing all the beats and intros for my show. We rocked like that for almost 4 years, until I left the Bomb to rock full time with Federation.
Ultimately, I ended up getting back into radio the next year (that’s when I moved to Portland), but I look back on my time in Sacramento with Rick Rock and the Federation as some of the greatest memories of my life.
