storytime with quik

Man. Looking back on this photograph and how small and grainy it is, I realize we sure have come along way over the last 20 years in digital photography! Anyways, my big homie Byze One (RIP), introduced me to Quik many years ago and brought me to hang with him many times.

On Episode 7 of the Hella Years Podcast, I tell the story of the time Byze and myself went to the studio to hear some of Quik’s new music and there was another rapper in the studio. For like the first 30 minutes I had no idea who it was. But he was friendly and his voice was very familiar.

It wasn’t until Quik said “Hey Talib, should we play them our new record?”, that it all connected! Talib Kweli! That’s crazy! I had no idea it was him, yet I was a big fan of his music. Too cool. Check out Episode 7, this Friday, to hear more details from this super cool story.
