rodecaster pro review

Well, including bonus episodes, we’ve officially knocked out over 10 Hella Years Podcasts. Pretty crazy! Seems like just yesterday I was coming up with the idea and brainstorming what it would take to get started.

Anyways, all 10 episodes have been recorded on this piece of equipment, the Rodecaster Pro. We’ve got 4 Shure SM7Bs with Rode Boom Arms and Cloudlifters, but ultimately, it’s the Rodecaster Pro acting as the brains of the operation.

I have to say, it reminds me of running the boards back in my radio days. I’ve been doing the majority of my editing in post, but as I get more and more comfortable with the Rodecaster, my plan is to 1 shot 1 kill the episodes and run everything in real time, and this beast can totally handle that.

The touch screen is responsive and intuitive. I love the ability to control what inputs are going into/out of headphones and output. I’m impressed with the quality of the preamps and the integration into adobe audition. I also super dig the ability to multitrack record. The build quality is fantastic, the faders feel good, and the sound bank buttons have nice responsiveness.

Overall, I highly recommend the Rodecaster Pro. I’m really excited to be using it, and if you are thinking about podcasting, it’s a great piece of equipment for the novice or professional.
