This Friday, we are coming up on the 34th anniversary of De La Soul’s debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising. Originally released on March 3, 1989, this album is one of the most loved and celebrated albums in hip hop. Featuring the singles Me, Myself, and I, and Buddy, this incredible album laid the foundation for what stylistically was referred to as alternative hip hop and/or jazz rap. Also, we will see the De La Soul catalog finally hit streaming services this Friday, March 3!

Sadly, just a few weeks ago on February 12, one of the 3 members of De La Soul, Trugoy the Dove passed away. We will salute and honor his legacy on this week’s episode of the Hella Years Podcast.
